12 Common Questions

Everything Worth Knowing Before You Book

How much does ceramic coating cost at Aristocrat Detailing?

Two fixed coating packages, both published on the website. Feynlab Ultra V3 — $1,495, includes single-stage paint correction, wheel face coating, trim coating, glass coating, and a 5-year manufacturer warranty registered with Feynlab. Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra — $1,995, same standard inclusions plus a 9-year manufacturer guarantee. The only optional add-on is multi-stage paint correction, $400 to $800 depending on paint condition, applied to either package when warranted. The published prices are the prices.

Are you really the only Feynlab Certified Installer in Kansas City?

Yes. Feynlab maintains a public installer directory, and Aristocrat Detailing is the only certified location in the Kansas City metro. We also hold Gtechniq Accredited Installer status — the only shop south of the Missouri River with both. Manufacturer certification isn't a marketing badge — it's a credential that requires hands-on training, facility evaluation, and ongoing standards compliance. It's the only reason our Feynlab and Gtechniq warranty registrations are honored directly by the manufacturers against your vehicle's VIN.

Is ceramic coating actually worth $1,495+ on a daily driver?

Depends on the vehicle and the timeframe. For a vehicle kept 3+ years in Kansas City conditions (anti-icing brine in October, full salt by November, hard UV in summer, acid-rain pollutants from agricultural runoff), a properly installed ceramic coating prevents the clear-coat etching, water-spot embedding, and oxidation that cost real money at resale or repaint time. For a 1-year-and-trade vehicle, probably not — wax or sealant is enough. For a 3+ year hold, the math usually favors coating. We're happy to walk through the specifics for your vehicle on a phone call.

How do I wash a ceramic-coated car so I don't damage the coating?

Two-bucket hand wash with a pH-neutral soap, a plush microfiber wash mitt, and a clean drying towel — that's the gold standard. Touchless automatic washes (high-pressure water and soap, no mechanical contact) are fine. What shortens a coating's life: brush-style automatic drive-throughs, dish soap, paper towels, and any stiff-bristle brush. We provide every Aristocrat client with a written maintenance routine at handoff and answer questions any time during the warranty period.

Does ceramic coating fix swirl marks and scratches?

No — ceramic coating magnifies whatever paint condition is underneath it. That's why every ceramic coating package at Aristocrat includes single-stage paint correction as standard. We machine-polish the paint to remove swirl marks, water spots, and oxidation before applying the coating. For deeper damage, multi-stage paint correction is available as an add-on ($400 to $800 depending on paint condition). Coating over uncorrected paint locks every defect in for the full life of the coating — which is exactly why we don't offer that as an option.

Should I get paint protection film (PPF) or ceramic coating?

Neither replaces the other — they protect against different things. PPF (clear urethane film) physically blocks rock chips, road debris, and abrasion on high-impact zones — typically front bumper, hood, mirrors, leading edges. Ceramic coating provides chemical resistance, UV protection, hydrophobic water-shedding, and gloss across the entire vehicle surface. For high-mileage commuters, new vehicle deliveries, or long-term holds, the gold standard is PPF on impact zones plus ceramic coating over the whole vehicle. We do both at Aristocrat — call (913) 800-2675 to discuss the right combination for your situation.

I just bought a new car — should I coat it before or after I drive it home?

Before, ideally — but realistically, within the first month of ownership. Dealer prep almost always introduces light swirl marks; transport adds more. The closer to delivery you can schedule the correction-and-coat, the cleaner the underlying paint is when it gets locked in. We coordinate with several KC-area dealerships for direct vehicle handoffs when that's preferred. Call us before you take delivery if you're considering it.

Do you do insurance estimates or claims work?

No — Aristocrat Detailing is exterior detailing only (ceramic coating, paint correction, paint protection film, window tinting). We don't do collision repair, dent removal, or anything insurance-claim-related. We refer clients with collision damage to body shops we trust in the metro, then we're often the next stop once paint is repaired and ready for protection.

Where are you located and how long does a typical service take?

10608 Widmer Rd, Lenexa, KS 66215 — a controlled-environment studio where the ceramic application happens. Service times: ceramic coating with single-stage correction takes 1-2 days. Multi-stage correction adds another day. Paint protection film (full front) is typically 1-2 days. Window tinting is same-day on most vehicles. We offer drop-off and let clients walk to Lenexa Public Market or City Center while we work — most of the studio is within a 5-minute walk to coffee.

Do you take walk-ins or do I need an appointment?

Appointments only — every job we do involves measuring clear-coat thickness, evaluating paint condition, prepping the controlled environment, and matching the right product to the vehicle. None of that works on a walk-in basis. The flip side: drop-off and pickup are flexible. We coordinate around your schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The shop is staffed during weekday business hours, but vehicle handoff outside those hours is something we do regularly to fit working clients' schedules. To book, message us through the website or reach out by phone or text.

What happens if my coating fails or I notice a defect after the install?

The Feynlab and Gtechniq warranties register directly with the manufacturer against your vehicle's VIN at the time of installation — not as a "shop guarantee" backed only by us. If a defect appears during the warranty period (5 years for Feynlab Ultra V3, 7 years for Heal Plus, 9 years for Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra), the claim goes through the manufacturer's process and is honored regardless of whether the shop is still in business. Across 10+ years and 46,700+ hours of professional detailing work at Aristocrat, zero warranty claims have been filed against our installs.

Should I choose Feynlab or Gtechniq?

Both are professional-grade, manufacturer-backed coating systems and both are excellent. The decision comes down to a few factors: warranty length (5 yrs Feynlab Ultra V3 vs 9 yrs Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra), product chemistry (Gtechniq's dual-layer system has a rigid sublayer + flexible outer), and budget ($1,495 vs $1,995). Feynlab Heal Plus (7-yr, self-healing for light surface marring) is also available on consultation. We'll walk through which one fits your vehicle's use case on the phone — neither is a "wrong" choice.
