Those warranty periods assume a properly prepared vehicle (paint correction first, decontamination done right) installed by a certified shop, plus reasonable maintenance going forward. If those conditions hold, you get the warranty period or more. If they don't, you get less. Sometimes a lot less.
What Actually Shortens Ceramic Coating Life in Kansas Weather
Kansas weather is harder on a coating than most of the country, and Overland Park drivers see all of it.

Touchless automatic washes for routine cleaning, two-bucket hand wash with clean microfiber for deep cleans, and avoid brush-based automatic washes. Most "swirl marks" you see on a coated vehicle three years in are not failures of the coating — they're failures of the wash routine. The coating made the swirling visible by reflecting light differently than untreated clear coat.
Improper prep at install. This one is on the installer, not on you. A coating applied over a vehicle with bonded contamination, polishing oil residue, or moisture trapped in the surface won't bond properly and will fail early — sometimes within 12-18 months. - Damage from improper washing — brush-style automatic washes, harsh alkaline pre-soaks, abrasive towels (touchless automatic washes are fine)
- Rock chips, road debris, physical impact damage (paint protection film covers that — different product)
- Failure caused by another shop's incorrect installation
- Salt damage if your maintenance routine was inadequate

Not one. The warranties are real and the manufacturers honor them, but the better story is that a properly installed coating from a certified shop, on a vehicle the owner washes by hand, doesn't fail in the warranty period. It just keeps working.
How to Make Ceramic Coating Last as Long as the Warranty Says
Five things, in priority order:
- Touchless automatic wash for routine cleaning, two-bucket hand wash with pH-neutral soap for deep cleans. Once a week max in summer, every other week in winter. Avoid brush-based or "soft cloth" automatic washes — touchless ones (high-pressure water + soap, no contact) are fine and often recommended.
- Annual decontamination wash and inspection. A dedicated iron remover and tar remover treatment once a year removes bonded contamination that regular washing can't touch. We offer this as a maintenance service.
- Coating booster every 18-24 months. A topper product that adds a sacrificial layer above the ceramic. Inexpensive, takes 30 minutes, extends the underlying coating's effective life by years.
- Don't park under trees. Bird droppings and tree sap etch through ceramic given enough time. Most damage we see is on garage-less daily drivers parked under elms or oaks.
- Use a shop that paint corrects every time. A coating over swirled, oxidized, or contaminated paint locks all of that in permanently. We always paint correct — every Aristocrat package includes single-stage correction at minimum, with multi-stage as the optional upgrade for paint that needs it. We never coat over uncorrected paint.
